Boutique Hotel Matlai sits on the South-eastern coast of Zanzibar, an area that already has tens of beach-front properties. This hotel comprises of  two villas, Asili House and Villa Kidosho.

Both villas are situated direct on the beach, surrounded by lush blooming and  fragrant vegetation. Asili House features natural African and Swahili elements in its design, while Villa Kidosho is designed in an Oriental style. As a result, the villas blend the typical African and Arabic influences that have shaped the character of Zanzibar.

Villas

The house’s four bedrooms each contain a double bed, but separate beds can be added for children. This means it’s perfect for a group of travellers or a family!

The Asili House

Asili House has

• four themed sea-view bedrooms, on two storeys and gardened
• sea faced terraces with sun lounger and dining table
•  private pool, reaching the beach
• al-fresco lounge with armchairs, guest library, huge dining table, fridge, tea and coffee bar

Villa Kidosho

• two themed suites with fantastic sea view - not visible from the beach
• sea faced private terraces with sun lounger and dining tables
• a private infinity pool with jacuzzi jets
• a huge lounge with elevated sitting area, coffee bar, guest library, dining table and terrace with direct access to the pool

Facilities

 The name Asili translates as nature or origin – and the building certainly has a very natural feel. The lounge is al fresco, with plenty of comfortable armchairs! There is also a library in this space, in addition to a large dining table, a fridge, and a tea-and-coffee bar. Guests can also choose to dine on the house’s terrace – and there are sunloungers here too. Finally, there’s the private pool, extending all the way out to the beach! Many happy hours may be spent here, simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views out to sea.
